DIY Summer Skin Care

DIY Summer Skin Care

The summer is upon us in full force and while the warmer seasons uplift our mood and brighten up our vacation plans, they don’t always do the same for our skin. So in today’s post, I thought I’d share with you a few skin care DIYs that I use to keep my skin happy and glowing in summer.

The ingredients I’ve used can easily be found in your kitchen and you don’t need to worry about any chemicals because it’s completely natural.

Please note: Some natural ingredients might not suit your skin. If you have sensitive skin, it’s better to do a patch test before you apply any of these packs. Also, the pictures below aren’t indicative of the quantity of each ingredient to be used.

FACE

1. Brightening Face Pack for Clear Skin

Ingredients:

  1. ½ Lemon
  2. 2 Spoons Honey
  3. 1 Spoon Milk

Mix the ingredients together and apply it on your face, emphasizing the trouble areas. Leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes and wash it off with cold water.

Apply it everyday for one week and then twice a week for a healthy glow. This is great to get rid of a tan.

 2. Anti-Ageing Face Pack for Firm Skin

Ingredients:

  1. ½ Banana
  2. 1 Spoon Honey
  3. 2 Spoons Yogurt

Mash the banana in a mixer until it becomes a smooth paste (or you could mash it using a spoon). Mix the honey and yogurt to this. Apply the mixture to your face and leave it on for fifteen to twenty minutes. Clean it with a damp cloth and wash off with cold water. This pack helps tighten and firm your skin naturally and is great for sensitive skin.

3. Face Pack for Oily Skin to Prevent Breakout

Ingredients:

  1. 3 Spoons Fuller’s Earth (Multani Mitti)
  2. ½ Lemon
  3. 2 Spoons Rose Water
  4. 1 Spoon Yogurt

Blend the ingredients together to form a smooth paste. Apply this on your face and leave it on for 30 minutes. When it is dry, wash it off with cold water. This pack stops oil secretion and fights acne and scars. It also adds a nice, healthy glow to your face.

4. Cooling Face Pack

  2. 3 Spoons Rose Water

5. Face Pack for Dry Skin

Ingredients:

  1. 3 Spoons Gram flour (Besan)
  2. 1 Spoon Milk
  3. 1 Spoon Honey
  4. 1 Spoon Rose Water
  5. A pinch of turmeric

Mix all the ingredients until you get a smooth paste. Apple it evenly all over the face and gently massage your skin with it. Leave it on for about ten to fifteen minutes and wash it off with cold water.

Using this regularly will moisturize and add glow to dry skin and is great to keep your skin hydrated during the summer.

BODY

1. Coffee Scrub

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup coffee
  2. ½ cup brown sugar
  3. 2 Spoons coconut/olive oil

Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly. While in the shower, massage the scrub into wet skin for a minute or two per area, and then rinse with warm water.

This scrub is great to get rid of cellulite and get smooth and soft skin. It is perfect for summer because that’s when you’re going to be wearing shorts and skirts more often.

LIPS

1. Exfoliating Lip Scrub

Ingredients:

  1. Two Spoons Brown Sugar
  2. ½ Spoon Honey
  3. ½ Spoon Olive Oil
  4. A Small Drop of Vanilla Extract
  5. A Small Container

Mix the brown sugar with all the other ingredients so that they all stick together and store the mixture in a small container. Once or twice a week, rub the scrub onto your lips and exfoliate to get rid of the dead skin. Let it sit for a minute or two and then wipe it off with a damp cloth or wash with cold water. Apply lip balm after use. This is great for people with chapped lips.

I love homemade masks!! I used to do one every weekend. Now I’m allergic to bananas, though, so I can’t use it! 🙁
